TAMARIND HONEY DRESSING

METHOD TO MAKE THE DRESSING:

In a jar with lid whisk together 2 tbsp vinegar, 3 tbsps. Himalaya Gourmet Tamarind Honey Dip,  2 tbsps. water, 1 clove garlic minced (optional), 3 tbsps. olive oil, salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use.

 

SPINACH SALAD

 

Ingredients:

• baby spinach leaves or salad leaves

• 10 cherry tomatoes, sliced

• 1 cup diced cucumber

• ½ cup diced sweet peppers

• ½ semi ripe mango diced

     Tamarind Honey Dressing.

 

METHOD:

Just before serving time, 

toss salad and other vegetables with above dressing made with 

Himalaya Gourmet Tamarind Honey Dip. 

 

Serve on a platter.

TAMARIND CUCUMBER SALAD

Ingredients

  •  

  • 1 cup cooked chick peas 

  • 1 large english cucumber, diced

  • 3 tbsps. Himalaya Gourmet Tamarind Honey Dip

  • 2 stalks green onion finely diced

  • ¼ cup diced semi ripe mango*

  • ¼ cup sweet red pepp

  • salt to taste

  • 1 cup rice krispies or sev (fine crisp fried Indian noodles sold in grocery stores in International section of groceries)

 

Method:

 

In a large bowl stir cucumber, chick peas with Himalaya Gourmet Tamarind Honey Dip. Add diced mango,  salt, green onion and peppers. Garnish with rice krispies or sev. Serve immediately in small bowls.

 

*Equally excellent with Himalaya Gourmet Mango Chutney.

Bhel Puri

A snack or a salad.

Serve this  snack with mini rice crackers. Place an assortment of crackers along with this dish and let each one  assembles their own snack.

Ingredients:

6 tbsps. Himalaya Gourmet Tamarind Honey dip

1/4 finely diced medium cucumber

1 finely diced cooked potato

1/4 medium size mango, finely chopped

½ cup green onion, finely chopped

1 cup cooked chick-peas

2 tbsp. roasted peanuts (optional)

1 table spoon fresh coriander leaves.

Salt to taste.

Garnish:

8 to 10 rice crackers.

1 tbsp. Himalaya Gourmet Coriander chutney (optional)

½ cup Sev (fine chick pea noodle available in Indian stores and grocery stores such as Wall Mart & no frills, alternately use rice crispies).

Method:                  

  1. Mix Himalaya Gourmet Tamarind Honey dip with prepared vegetables, mango, chick-peas and peanuts

  2. garnish bhel puri with coriander chutney and sev just before serving.

  3. Serve on rice cracker or on a salad platter.

  4. It has to be served crisp. So let each person assemble their own snack.

This dish makes a nice accompaniment to meals or barbecues.
